Tutor a student, one hour a week.

An hour a week is enough to change how someone experiences a job interview, a doctor’s appointment or a parents’ evening. You do not need to be a teacher — you need to be willing to talk.

Sign up on EAL Connect

Tell us what you can help with and when you are free. It takes about five minutes, and you can write in any of twelve languages.

02

We check your details

A coordinator records your ID, references and safeguarding induction. Nobody is matched with a student until all three are done.

03

We pair you with a student

You get an email with your own link. Open it to introduce yourself and book your first session.

What tutoring involves

You meet one student online, at a time that suits you both, and work on whatever they need — conversation, homework, reading letters and forms, preparing for an interview.

We ask for about an hour a week. We keep the same tutor with the same student wherever we can, because consistency is what makes the difference.

What you get

  • Service hours, counted from the sessions you log
  • Your own page on the platform: messages, session booking and a video link each time
  • A coordinator who checks in and can help if anything is not working
